Exploring Careers at Avalon Airshow

Avalon 2025’s Careers Day was packed with interactive experiences and real-world insights for students across the state.

The Victorian Local Learning and Employment Network was at the forefront as a key supporter of the event. Using our combined local connections with schools across the state to promote Avalon Airshow Career Day, in particular career opportunities in STEM. Led and coordinated by a partnership between
WynBay and Geelong Region LLENs, the network was able to reach schools from across Victoria with thousands of students from all corners of the state attending.

The Career Day was hosted by AMDA Foundation who champion aviation, aerospace, space, maritime and defence innovation and engagement.

This year marks the largest Avalon in the event’s 33-year history, and the numbers tell the story:

– 902 exhibitor organisations from 28 countries.

– 290 delegations from 28 countries, including 20 Chiefs of Air Force, senior representatives, and dignitaries from US and abroad.

– 350 aircrafts on display, with 64 exhibitor aircrafts taking part in 45 flying displays and international aircrafts from five nations.

7500+ students and educators registered from over 100 schools and institutions

Students got to speak to industry experts, experience a drone program, hear insightful speakers, tour aircraft, and dive into careers in advanced transport and defence industries.

It was a great opportunity for young people to learn more about industries that they may not come into contact within their day-to-day lives.

VicLLENs’ commitment to providing meaningful career pathways extends beyond the Avalon Air Show. Since 2016, we have coordinated over 25,000 School to Work placements, currently collaborating with more than 6,500 employers across the state.

By facilitating industry connections and hands-on experiences, we are equipping young Victorians with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s workforce.

“We were thrilled to be part of the Avalon Air Show, helping young people gain exposure to the aviation industry and the diverse career opportunities within it,” VicLLENs Chair Fiona Purcell said.
